Ahmed Nur Commits to Ole Miss, Giving Rebels Their Biggest Recruit in Decades
Ole Miss landed one of its biggest basketball recruiting wins in decades Saturday when highly regarded 2027 forward Ahmed Nur committed to Chris Beard and the Rebels. The 6-foot-8 Bella Vista College Prep standout chose Ole Miss over a group that included Florida State, Syracuse and SMU. ESPN rates Nur as a top-20 senior, while the Rivals Industry Rankings place him No. 28 nationally and No. 4 among power forwards, making him one of the highest-rated commitments in program history.
Nur’s appeal goes beyond his ranking. He brings legitimate positional versatility, with the size to play in the frontcourt and enough mobility and skill to attack from the perimeter. Nur told Rivals that he believes he can impact winning immediately as a freshman and pointed to his relationship with Beard as a major factor in the decision. He also described himself as a versatile player capable of contributing in multiple areas rather than being locked into a traditional power-forward role.
For Ole Miss, that makes this more than another recruiting commitment. Beard is trying to raise the program’s national recruiting ceiling, and landing Nur provides tangible evidence that the Rebels can win battles for prospects coveted across the high-major level. Nur becomes Ole Miss’ first commitment in the 2027 class and gives the staff a centerpiece around which it can now build the rest of the group.
