Alycia Baumgardner Retains Unified Titles and Calls Out Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano

In the main event of Friday night’s card at the Infosys Theater at Madison Square Garden, Alycia Baumgardner retained her unified WBA, IBF, and WBO super featherweight titles with a commanding unanimous decision over South Korea’s Bo Mi Re Shin. The scores came in 98-92, 98-92, and 99-91 — a thorough performance that was never really in doubt.

Baumgardner controlled the early rounds with sharp jab work and precision combinations, consistently turning Shin and keeping her at range. A thunderous uppercut in the fourth round visibly rocked the challenger and put her on the defensive. Shin found some success in the middle rounds when Baumgardner showed moments of fatigue in the sixth and seventh, but the champion adjusted and regained full control down the stretch with superior footwork and countering.

The real fireworks came after the final bell. Baumgardner wasted no time calling out the biggest names in women’s boxing.

“Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano — what’s up?” she declared in the ring.

She also had no interest in hearing about unified champion Caroline Dubois. “I’m a piranha, that’s just a guppy. Get her out of here.”

Bold words from a fighter clearly looking to cash in on the biggest possible matchups. Taylor is now 39 and planning a farewell bout in Dublin later this year, while Serrano is nearing the end of her own legendary career. The boxing public, however, may be more eager to see Baumgardner face Dubois — the fight that could truly determine who rules the super featherweight division.

Either way, Baumgardner made her case Friday night. She is one of the most complete fighters in women’s boxing, and she is not interested in waiting around.

Alycia Baumgardner (18-1, 7 KOs) is the unified WBA, IBF, and WBO super featherweight champion who first made headlines with a shocking knockout of Terri Harper in 2021 and followed it up by stopping Mikaela Mayer in 2022. Bo Mi Re Shin (19-4-3, 10 KOs) previously challenged Caroline Dubois for a world title and pushed her to a majority decision in a tough 2025 bout.
