Angel Reese Broke Two WNBA Records Monday Night

Angel Reese didn’t just have another dominant night on the glass Monday — she rewrote the WNBA record book twice. Reese grabbed an incredible 26 rebounds as the Atlanta Dream defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 78-71, breaking the league’s single-game record of 24 that Chamique Holdsclaw had held since 2003. She also pushed her season total to 458 rebounds, passing A’ja Wilson’s previous single-season WNBA record of 451.

Reese finished with 11 points, three assists and three steals while Atlanta completed a perfect four-game West Coast road trip. Allisha Gray led the Dream with 20 points and Rhyne Howard added 18 as Atlanta improved to 25-13 and continued climbing in the playoff-seeding race. What makes Reese’s performance even more impressive is that this comes only days after she scored a career-high 31 points against Phoenix. Her offensive game is improving, but rebounding remains the skill that separates her from almost everyone else in the league.

There are big rebounding nights, and then there is what Reese just did. One record had stood for more than two decades. The other belonged to one of the greatest players in the game today. Reese took down both of them on the same night — and she still has games remaining to push that season record even higher.
