Five-Star Guard Avery Arije Commits to Notre Dame, Strengthening Irish 2027 Class
Notre Dame added another major piece to its 2027 recruiting class Friday when five-star guard Avery Arije announced her commitment to the Fighting Irish. The 6-foot Toronto standout is ranked No. 16 in ESPN’s 2027 SC Next 100 and becomes the third commitment in Notre Dame’s class.
Arije chose Notre Dame after drawing interest from a national group of programs that included Arizona, Duke, Baylor and Michigan. She has already built an international résumé with Canada Basketball and established herself on the summer circuit as an aggressive left-handed guard who can attack downhill, make perimeter shots and use her athleticism defensively. Arije was previously named MVP of the adidas 3SSB 16-and-under division, another indicator of the upside Notre Dame is betting on.
For coach Niele Ivey, the commitment is important beyond one recruiting ranking. Elite guards increasingly arrive in college with extensive high-level experience, and Arije’s combination of size, international competition and scoring versatility gives Notre Dame a player who could eventually handle multiple perimeter roles. With three 2027 pledges already in place, the Irish are assembling their class early — and landing a top-20 prospect gives them another recruiting win they can use while pursuing the remaining elite players in the cycle.
