Las Vegas, Nevada- And the winner is Adelaide Bryd!!! Bryd scorecard results overshadow the terrific event and fight that both Saul”Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin gave to fans this past Saturday. The Mega fight between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin ended up in a draw. This event took place before a Sold-Out crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Alvarez Golovkin fight broke and set a new record for attendance at the T-Mobile Arena (22,358).
Coming into the fights, the Las Vegas Casinos had Golovkin as the slight favorite. Most fans and experts believed that the fight was dead even.
From the get-go, the T-Mobile Arena was electric as fans cheer for the fighters. Golovikin entered the arena first follow by Canelo.
Canelo controlled the beginning rounds of the bought. He landed multiple body shots that were making Golovkin uncomfortable. In the middle rounds, Golovkin started to press the action and took control. Golovkin jabs made Canelo used his footwork. As Canelo was fighting from his back foot. Golovkins adjustment made Canelo abandon the body work. During most of the middle Rounds, Canelo was landing the cleaner shots while Golovking was pressing the action. Canelo Started to take back control during the finale rounds by being more aggressive and trowing combinations. Both fighters gave the fans an epic last round that the T-Mobil arena had an electric atmosphere.
The judges scored the fight as follow Adelaide Bryd 118-110 (Canelo) Dave Moretti 115-113 (Golovkin) Don Trella 114-114 (Draw) ending a draw. After the announcement, the disappointment, and frustration form the audience was evident.
“It’s a big drama show,” said Gennady Golovkin. “I want to thank all my fans. I want to thank all my Kazakhstan fans for supporting me, for coming out. Of course, I want a rematch. This was a real fight. Look, I still have all the belts. I’m still the champion.”
“I thought I won the fight,” said Canelo Alvarez. “I think I was superior inside the ring. I won at least seven or eight rounds. I was able to counterpunch, and even make Gennady wobble a couple of times. It’s up to the people if we fight again. I feel frustrated over this draw.” When asked if he felt Golovkin’s power, Canelo said, “No, truthfully, not really. There wasn’t any power that surprised me. In the first rounds, I came out to see what he had. Then I was building from there. Yes, of course, I want the rematch. Obviously, if the people want it, then yes.”
Both fighters gave us a great fight that the rematch would be even bigger. Bad scorecard or not Boxing is alive and bigger than ever.
