David Benavidez-Michal Cieslak Official for Dec. 5 Cruiserweight Unification

David Benavidez’s next title fight is officially set. DAZN announced Thursday that the unbeaten three-division champion will face WBC cruiserweight champion Michal Cieslak on December 5 in a major unification bout. Benavidez enters with the WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles, while Cieslak brings the WBC belt, putting three of the division’s four major championships on the line.

The announcement turns a matchup that had been expected for weeks into a confirmed date. Benavidez, 32-0 with 26 knockouts, became a unified cruiserweight champion when he stopped Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez in May. Cieslak, 28-2 with 22 knockouts, has rebuilt his career with a lengthy knockout streak and now gets the biggest opportunity of his career against one of boxing’s pound-for-pound stars.

The stakes extend beyond the three belts. Benavidez has already identified Ring champion Jai Opetaia as one of his biggest targets for 2027, meaning a victory over Cieslak could move boxing closer to a showdown for cruiserweight supremacy. For now, however, Benavidez has a dangerous power puncher standing between him and another major step toward becoming the division’s undisputed king.
