New York, NY– The Co-Main event for the Lomachenko – Pedraza fight did not disappoint as Emanuel Navarrete upset Issac Dogboe in Madison Square Garden to become the New WBO Junior Featherweight champion of the world.
In the first round, both Dogboe and Navarrete came out swinging wild. Both fighters look nervous and anxious trying to land a big shot. In the second round, Navarrete landed a vicious body shot that hurt Dogboe. Navarrete continued to throw combinations that made Dogboe fight of his back foot. Dogboe was not able to adjust as he continued to apply ineffective pressure on Navarate.
Navarrete continued to make the champion fight off his back foot in the middle rounds. In the 7th Navarrete looked winded and danced the whole round. Dogboe got a second wind as he dominated the 8th round with pressure and body shots. Navarrete injured his right hand early in the fight, but he continued to throw combinations in the 9th round and continue to control of the match again. Dogboe had two swollen eyes and was belading from the mouth. He looked exhausted as he was trying to survive the finals rounds. Navarrete continued to fight even with the wounded right hand. Navarrete and his new bodywork help him get a unanimous decision as he became the New WBO Junior Featherweight of the world.
