Irish super middleweight prospect Tommy ‘The Governor’ Hyde Improves to 15-0
Rising Irish super middleweight prospect Tommy “The Governor” Hyde kept his undefeated record intact with a dominant third-round knockout over Britain’s Mick “The Hammer” Hall in the main event of “Revolution” on Saturday night.
Fighting at home for just the fourth time in his professional career, the 6-foot-4 Hyde (15-0, 10 KOs) controlled the action from the opening bell at Parochial Hall in Gurranabraher, Cork. The event, promoted by NoWhere2Hyde Promotions, was streamed live globally on TrillerTV.
Hyde wasted no time asserting his advantage, backing Hall (15-4, 2 KOs) up early and consistently landing clean shots. The end came late in the third round after Hyde unleashed a sharp combination capped by a powerful right uppercut that broke Hall’s nose, prompting the stoppage.
“I’m delighted to get another good win at home in front of a loud Irish crowd,” Hyde said. “I felt like I brought what we’ve been working on in the gym into the ring. I’m improving with every fight and already looking forward to the next opportunity.”
Promoter Gary Hyde, Tommy’s father, praised his son’s performance and composure against an experienced opponent.
“Tommy took control from the first round and kept Hall on the back foot,” Gary Hyde said. “Once Hall felt the power, he was just trying to survive. The finishing sequence—body jab, double jab upstairs, and the right uppercut—was textbook.”
The card also featured strong performances from two Cork natives.
Welterweight Ryan McCarthy (1-0), making his professional debut, earned a shutout decision (40-35) over Brazil’s Wendall Da Costa Santos (3-8-4). McCarthy is a 2024 Irish Elite Champion.
Light heavyweight Brian “Bone Breaker” Long (4-0, 2 KOs), a 2024 Irish National Immediate Champion, also pitched a shutout, defeating London’s Ife Jarrett (0-13-1) by a 40-36 score.
