Jai Opetaia, an Australian boxer, holds the IBF and Ring magazine cruiserweight titles, having reclaimed the IBF belt in 2024 after vacating it in 2023 due to a dispute with the organization.

Claudio Squeo, Opetaia’s scheduled opponent, is a 34-year-old undefeated Italian boxer with a record of 17 wins, 9 by knockout, as per Matchroom Boxing’s announcement.

The fight’s postponement from May 13 to June 8, 2025, on the Gold Coast, Australia, stems from Opetaia’s minor injury, delaying his second consecutive title defense in his home country.
