Jamie Foxx to Portray Mike Tyson in Long-Awaited Biopic Series
After more than a decade in development, the long-anticipated Mike Tyson biopic is finally moving forward — and it’s packing a star-studded punch. Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx will take on the role of the controversial and legendary boxer, with directing power from Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) and executive production from Martin Scorsese.
Originally pitched as a feature film back in 2014, the project has since evolved into a limited series, giving the creative team more time to explore the highs and lows of Tyson’s incredible — and at times tragic — journey. The show will trace Tyson’s meteoric rise from the streets of Brooklyn to becoming the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history, as well as his legal troubles, time in prison, and path to redemption.
Foxx has been preparing for this role for years, even sharing clips and impressions of Tyson on social media, and undergoing physical transformations to accurately portray Iron Mike. According to Foxx, “We want to show not just the knockouts, but the man behind the gloves.”
Scorsese, known for masterful storytelling in films like Raging Bull and The Wolf of Wall Street, brings gravitas to the project as executive producer, while Fuqua promises a gritty, real look at Tyson’s complex life.
While a release date and network have yet to be officially announced, the series is expected to premiere sometime in 2026. With Tyson’s full support and involvement, the series aims to be both authentic and emotionally powerful.
