Five-Star Jordyn Palmer Commits to South Carolina, Giving Dawn Staley Another Elite 2027 Recruit
South Carolina added another elite piece to its 2027 recruiting class Friday when five-star wing Jordyn Palmer committed to the Gamecocks. The 6-foot-2 Westtown School standout chose Dawn Staley’s program over finalists Ohio State, UCLA and Penn State. Palmer is ranked No. 7 nationally in ESPN’s SC Next 100 and has already built one of the strongest résumés in the class, including three Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year awards and MVP honors at the 2026 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup.
Palmer averaged 23.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 3.3 steals and 2.5 blocks as a junior at Westtown. Her versatility is the attraction: she can overpower smaller defenders around the basket, rebound like a forward and create for teammates, while her expanding perimeter game gives her another path to becoming a matchup problem at the college level.
The commitment also turns South Carolina’s 2027 class into one of the deepest groups in the country. Palmer joins five-star guard Jezelle “GG” Banks, four-star guard Taylor Brown and five-star center Zaniya Johnson, who committed earlier this week. That gives Staley high-level talent across the floor rather than a class built around one position. For South Carolina, Palmer is not simply another top-10 recruit — she is another sign that the Gamecocks are assembling a class capable of extending their championship window well beyond the current roster.
