These guys deserve a lot of credit for fighting most of the fight in a phone booth. Toe to toe action with neither one of them backing down. Even though Lamont Peterson was landing clean shots to Lipinets head, there just wasn’t enough power to keep him off. Tides started to turn as the fight wore on with Peterson almost out on his feet at the end of round 8.
Round 9 saw Lipinets keep the pressure on and Peterson held his own but you can tell he wasn’t the same. By the 10th round, Lipinets landed a shot that hurt Peterson again and had him reeling and he fired off some more and Peterson went down just as his trainer Barry Hunter threw in the towel.
Afterward, Lamont Peterson decided to hang up the gloves for good. A great career for a solid fighter who always gave you his all.
Peterson’s career ends at 34-5-1, 17 KO’s, and Lipinets, himself a former world champion, is now 15-1, 11 KO’s.
