Marcus Morris had harsh words for Daryl Morey

Marcus Morris Sr. didn’t hold back when he appeared on “The Kevin O’Connor Show” podcast on March 18, 2025. He went on a tirade against Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey. Morris, a Philadelphia native and 13-year NBA veteran who played for the Sixers during the 2023-24 season, said he doesn’t trust Morey. He thinks Morey is thinking too far ahead of how basketball should be played.

Morris specifically criticized Morey for constantly changing the roster. He said this hurts team chemistry and doesn’t consider the unique aspects of playing in Philadelphia. Morris pointed to his own experience, saying he played well for his hometown team but Morey traded him midseason—along with Patrick Beverley—for what he called “a bunch of junk.” He also questioned Morey’s reliance on AI, asking if it made decisions like not re-signing James Harden or pursuing players like Paul George and Caleb Martin. Morris suggested these moves show a lack of understanding of the human side of the game.
