Maxime Raynaud Leaves Kings-Warriors Game in Wheelchair After Right Knee Injury
Sacramento Kings center Maxime Raynaud suffered a concerning right knee injury Saturday night during a 111-106 preseason loss to the Golden State Warriors, turning what had been an encouraging outing into a potentially significant roster concern. Raynaud went down with 2:32 remaining in the second quarter after setting a screen on Stephen Curry. He immediately grabbed his right knee, was examined on the floor and eventually left the court in a wheelchair.
Raynaud later departed Chase Center on crutches with ice wrapped around the knee and said he was headed for an MRI. Kings coach Doug Christie declined to speculate before imaging results were available. That distinction matters: the injury looked serious, but Sacramento had not announced a diagnosis as of early Sunday morning. Raynaud had been excellent before the injury, producing 10 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block in fewer than nine minutes.
The second-year big man has become an important young piece for Sacramento after averaging 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as a rookie. His availability could affect the Kings’ frontcourt rotation heading into the regular season, but the next meaningful update will come from the MRI rather than speculation based on how the injury looked. Until then, Sacramento’s concern is real, while the severity remains unknown.
