Mikaela Mayer confirmed that she sent an offer to Alycia Baumgardner for a potential rematch before committing to her scheduled rematch with Sandy Ryan on March 29, 2025, in Las Vegas.
Mayer, the current WBO welterweight champion, has been vocal about wanting to revisit her controversial split decision loss to Baumgardner from October 2022, when Baumgardner won the IBF, WBO, and WBC junior lightweight titles. However, it appears the offer did not materialize into a fight agreement.
Baumgardner’s manager, Keith Connolly, told The Ring that the proposed terms—offering less money than Baumgardner earned for their first fight and requiring her to move up three weight classes to 147 pounds—were not appealing, suggesting why the rematch didn’t move forward.
Meanwhile, Mayer is now focused on defending her WBO welterweight title against Ryan, a fight that follows their competitive first encounter in September 2024, which Mayer won by majority decision.
