Humberto “Zorrita” Soto (69-9-2, 37 KOs) schooled Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios (35-5-1, 26 KOs) over twelve rounds in a super welterweight contest. What was originally thought to have been a 10 round contest was set to 12 rounds. The reasoning behind this was “probably” to tire Soto out over so many rounds, however that plan backfired and Soto was the one who got the last laugh. Although Brandon through and landed punches, they just weren’t meaningful punches. Soto fought in spurts but they were very decisive shots he landed on Bam Bam.
In the end, Soto’s was able to walk away with a scorecard of 119-111, 118-112, 118-112 win. Soto was an 8:1 underdog
