RJ Barrett Sends Strong Message About Raptors’ Team Culture

Toronto Raptors guard RJ Barrett made it clear that the new-look Raptors are prioritizing team culture and unselfish basketball. Speaking with the media, Barrett praised the squad’s chemistry and commitment to doing things “the right way.”

“We don’t have egos over here. Everybody wants to win,” Barrett said. “And that’s coming from me, who’s probably one of the most confident guys you’ve ever met in your life. We just have players here with a good mindset of helping the team win—it’s not just about any single individual player.”

Barrett emphasized that this team-first mentality allows players to hold each other accountable. “We can talk to each other like, ‘yo, you’re messing up right there,’ and it’s no hard feelings. You need that commitment to team excellence.”

The Raptors guard also pointed out the importance of ball movement and trust. “I’ve been on teams where the ball doesn’t move, then nothing happens after that. Nobody cares and it becomes every man for himself. Here, we move the ball, we defend, and we care about each other. Honestly, we’re all friends—we hang out, everything’s cool. The way the Raptors do things is the right way, and that’s why we’ll have success.”

Barrett’s words echo the Raptors’ long-standing reputation as an organization built on chemistry, accountability, and collective effort.
