SGA Reacts to Seeing Chris Paul Courtside: “I Had to Double Take!”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a hilarious moment during Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals when he spotted a familiar face courtside—former teammate Chris Paul.

“I had to double take. I was like ‘Who is that sitting with my wife?’… but then I seen it was Chris [Paul] I was like ‘Alright,’” SGA joked in the postgame interview.

Paul, who played a pivotal role in SGA’s development during their time together in Oklahoma City, was in the building to support the Thunder’s playoff run. The two guards built a close bond during the 2019–20 season, and SGA acknowledged how meaningful that mentorship still is.

“He taught me so much,” SGA said. “So to see him here, supporting me, it means the world. That’s family.”

Their reunion added another emotional layer to a dominant performance by the Thunder, who now hold a 2-0 lead over the Timberwolves in the series.
