Shadasia Green Releases Statement After Scary KO Loss, Vows to Come Back Better Than Ever

One day after the scariest night of her career, Shadasia Green is already looking ahead.

Green released a statement through Most Valuable Promotions on Saturday following her ninth-round TKO loss to Lani Daniels at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The former unified IBF and WBO super middleweight champion thanked her fans and delivered an optimistic message about her future.

“Thank you to all of my fans for all your incredible support,” Green’s statement read. “During the final rounds of last night’s fight, I suffered some injuries. I’m currently resting and recovering, and I look forward to coming back better than ever. I truly appreciate all the love.”

The update came as a relief to many who watched the fight’s terrifying conclusion. Daniels unloaded a relentless barrage of right hands in the ninth round that left Green unable to defend herself. After referee Eric Dali stepped in to stop the contest, Green was gently lowered onto a stool and then placed on a stretcher before being taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Though she never lost consciousness, she was in visible pain and unable to stand on her own.

As of Saturday, Green was resting at a hospital in the New York area and was reported to be awake and communicative. Her willingness to already speak publicly about a comeback is a positive sign, though it would be surprising to see “The Sweet Terminator” back in action anytime within the next 12 months given the nature of the stoppage.

Green had unified the IBF and WBO super middleweight titles with a split decision over Savannah Marshall last July and was widely expected to eventually face undisputed champion Claressa Shields. That timeline is now on hold, but Green’s fighting spirit clearly remains intact.

Shadasia Green unified the IBF and WBO super middleweight titles with a split decision over Savannah Marshall in July 2025 and made her name as one of the top fighters at 168 pounds. Lani Daniels is a New Zealand-based fighter who shocked the boxing world by stopping Green to claim the unified titles in the biggest upset of 2026 so far.
