Shakur Stevenson isnât shy about calling his shot.
The former multi-division world champion told reporters this week that he already knows exactly how to beat Teofimo Lopez if the two ever meet in the ring. Stevenson, known for his slick defense and precision counterpunching, believes his style is tailor-made to neutralize Lopezâs explosive power.
âI already see everything he does. I know how to beat him,â Stevenson said confidently. âItâs just a matter of time before that fight happens.â
Lopez, the reigning WBO junior welterweight champion, has enjoyed a career defined by big moments â from shocking Vasiliy Lomachenko in 2020 to his latest defenses at 140 pounds. But he has also shown vulnerability when opponents disrupt his rhythm and pace.
Thatâs exactly where Stevenson sees the opening. The Newark native has built his reputation on ring IQ, patience, and the ability to make aggressive fighters look uncomfortable. To him, Lopezâs strengths could quickly become weaknesses.
A Stevenson-Lopez clash would be one of the sportâs biggest all-American matchups, pitting two young stars with contrasting styles. Stevenson insists he doesnât just want the fight â heâs ready to dominate it.
âFans should know, Iâve been studying him. I know the blueprint,â Stevenson added.
Whether boxing politics allow it to happen remains to be seen, but if it does, Stevenson has already planted the seed: heâs confident the outcome wonât be in doubt.
