Warriors Lock Up Brandin Podziemski With Five-Year, $110 Million Extension

The Golden State Warriors made a major investment in their future Saturday, agreeing with guard Brandin Podziemski on a five-year, $110 million rookie-scale contract extension. Agent Bill Duffy confirmed the agreement to ESPN. The deal is fully guaranteed, includes a mutual option for the 2031-32 season and a trade kicker, and keeps Podziemski from reaching restricted free agency next summer.

Podziemski earned the commitment after the best season of his young career. The 23-year-old played all 82 games in 2025-26, starting 43, while averaging 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He also made 153 three-pointers, second on Golden State behind Stephen Curry. The extension begins in 2027-28, when Podziemski is scheduled to make $18.9 million after finishing the final year of his rookie contract this season.

The bigger message is what the contract says about Golden State’s direction. The Warriors are still trying to maximize Curry’s remaining championship window, but they also need younger players capable of carrying responsibility into the next era. Podziemski has steadily increased his scoring in each NBA season and has earned Steve Kerr’s trust with his versatility, rebounding and feel for the game. At roughly $22 million per year, Golden State is betting that his next step will make today’s price look increasingly reasonable.
