Allisha Gray, Dream Force WNBA Finals Game 7 With 80-69 Win Over Valkyries

The Atlanta Dream refused to let their season end Thursday, beating the Golden State Valkyries 80-69 in Game 6 to force a winner-take-all Game 7 in the WNBA Finals. Allisha Gray led Atlanta with 23 points, six rebounds, two steals and three blocks, while Rhyne Howard added 21 points and four assists. Angel Reese finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds as the Dream tied the best-of-seven series at 3-3.

Atlanta’s offense came alive after being held to its two lowest scoring totals of the Finals in Games 4 and 5. Gray and Howard combined for nine three-pointers, helping the Dream build enough separation to withstand a late Golden State push. Gabby Williams scored 26 points for the Valkyries, but Golden State could not close out the championship after entering Thursday one victory away from the title. The response was especially important for Atlanta after Golden State’s defense had dictated the previous two games.

Now everything comes down to one game. Game 7 shifts back to Chase Center on Saturday, where both franchises will be chasing their first WNBA championship. Golden State regains home court, but Atlanta leaves Game 6 with renewed offensive confidence after its three biggest stars all delivered in an elimination game. Gray’s two-way performance was the difference: she not only led Atlanta in scoring, but also made an impact defensively with three blocks and two steals. One more win will decide the championship.
