Unbeaten Atif Oberlton Gets Deon Nicholson Test on November 7 in Albuquerque

Unbeaten light heavyweight contender Atif “Lord Pretty Calvo” Oberlton has his next assignment. The Philadelphia southpaw will face Deon Nicholson in a 10-round bout on November 7 at Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque, New Mexico, serving as the co-feature to Abraham Perez’s interim WBA flyweight title defense against Yankiel Rivera. The card is scheduled to stream live on DAZN.

Oberlton enters at 17-0 with 14 knockouts and is coming off the first 10-round fight of his professional career, a unanimous-decision victory over veteran Roamer Alexis Angulo in August. Nicholson brings a 23-1 record with 19 knockouts and returned in June with a first-round stoppage of Steven Crowfield. That makes this more than a stay-busy fight for Oberlton: Nicholson’s power gives the rising contender another meaningful test as he pushes toward the top of the light heavyweight division.

Oberlton said the Angulo fight increased his confidence and believes beating Nicholson will move him closer to a world-title opportunity. That is the angle worth watching. At 28 and already carrying a strong knockout percentage, Oberlton is moving beyond prospect status. November 7 gives him another chance to prove that his combination of size, southpaw skill and power belongs against the division’s established contenders.
