Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua Could Have 1 A.M. Cardiff Ring Walk as Late-Night Plan Goes to Council

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua’s long-awaited heavyweight showdown is heading toward an unusually late start in Cardiff. An application submitted to Cardiff Council calls for the December 11 event at Principality Stadium to stage the main-event ring walk at approximately 1 a.m. local time, following a short live music performance. The proposal would also allow the stadium to remain open until 3:30 a.m., meaning the fight billed for Friday night could actually begin in the early hours of Saturday in the United Kingdom.

The timing is significant because it appears designed to keep one of British boxing’s biggest events friendly to the North American television audience. A 1 a.m. start in Cardiff would place the ring walk around 8 p.m. Eastern and 5 p.m. Pacific in the United States. The late-night plan is not fully approved yet: the stadium requires changes to its premises license, and Cardiff Council is considering the application.

For fans planning to attend, the proposed schedule could become almost as important as the fight date itself. Fury-Joshua already carries more than a decade of rivalry and repeated failed negotiations. Now organizers are trying to balance a massive British stadium event with global viewing demands. If the council approves the application, Cardiff could host a rare major fight night where the headline attraction does not walk until after midnight.
