Atlanta Dream Make State Farm Arena Permanent Home Starting in 2027
The Atlanta Dream are officially moving to a bigger stage. The franchise announced a multi-year agreement Tuesday night that will make State Farm Arena its full-time home beginning with the 2027 WNBA season. With the league expanding to a 50-game schedule, Atlanta will play all 25 home games at the downtown arena rather than splitting dates between venues.
The move is a direct response to surging demand. According to the Dream, season-ticket membership has grown more than 400% over the past five years, while every game at Gateway Center Arena has sold out during the last three seasons. Atlanta has also sold out State Farm Arena eight times, including crowds topping 17,000. The larger building gives the franchise room to turn that demand into a substantially bigger home audience.
This is more than an arena change; it is another sign of the WNBA’s shifting business scale. Atlanta is moving from a smaller, intimate building into the NBA-sized home of the Hawks because its fan base has outgrown the old model. For a Dream franchise already generating playoff momentum, the timing gives Atlanta an opportunity to pair an increasingly competitive team with a much larger platform in 2027.
