Denzel Bentley Signs With Zuffa Boxing, Shane Mosley Jr. Fight Set for November 7

Denzel Bentley has made a major career move. The WBO middleweight champion has signed a multi-fight agreement with Zuffa Boxing and is set to face Shane Mosley Jr. on November 7 at London’s Copper Box Arena. The bout will appear on the Chris Billam-Smith vs. Cheavon Clarke card, with Sky Sports carrying the event in the UK and Ireland and Paramount+ streaming it in the United States and Canada.

The announcement creates an immediate question around Bentley’s WBO championship. Earlier this week, Warriors Boxing won the purse bid for Bentley’s mandatory defense against unbeaten Yoenli Hernandez with the WBO minimum bid of $200,000, which would leave Bentley with a $150,000 purse. Rather than vacating the belt as some reports suggested, Bentley has appealed to the WBO for permission to make a voluntary defense. His newly announced Mosley matchup therefore becomes more than a promotional debut: the sanctioning body’s decision could determine whether Bentley enters November 7 as WBO champion.

Mosley is a credible first assignment under the Zuffa banner and already has experience in the promotion. For Bentley, however, the bigger story is leverage. He now has a multi-fight promotional home and a recognizable opponent while his mandatory obligation remains unsettled. If the WBO grants his request, Bentley keeps his title and gets the fight he wants. If not, boxing could soon have another vacant middleweight belt.
