Five-Star Zion Green Commits to Alabama, Gives Nate Oats Another Top-25 2027 Recruit
Alabama added another five-star prospect to its 2027 recruiting class Saturday when 6-foot-9 forward Zion Green committed to the Crimson Tide over Kansas, Oklahoma and Ole Miss. Green, a Philadelphia native playing at AZ Compass Prep in Arizona, is ranked No. 16 nationally in ESPN’s SC Next 100 and No. 24 in the 247Sports Composite.
Green’s stock has climbed behind a versatile offensive game that fits Nate Oats’ system. He told ESPN that Alabama’s up-tempo style appealed to him and pointed to the intensity and accountability he saw during a September visit to Tuscaloosa. Green also impressed at the Border League, where tracking data credited him with 73% shooting inside the arc and 40% from three. At his size, that combination of mobility, shooting and perimeter skill gives Alabama another modern frontcourt piece with significant upside.
The commitment gives Alabama a second top-25 prospect in the class alongside guard Chase Lumpkin. Oats has now landed six five-star recruits since taking over the program in 2019, continuing a recruiting run that has helped turn Alabama into a consistent national contender. Green still has physical development ahead, but his skill set appears particularly suited to a program that wants its bigger players running the floor, spacing the court and making quick decisions.
