O’Shaquie Foster Drops Emanuel Navarrete Twice, Unifies Three Titles in San Antonio
O’Shaquie Foster delivered the biggest performance of his career Saturday night, defeating Emanuel Navarrete by unanimous decision at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio to unify three super featherweight world titles. Foster retained his WBC championship while taking Navarrete’s WBO and IBF belts, winning by scores of 118-108, 118-108 and 115-111. He also captured The Ring championship.
Foster controlled the fight with movement, timing and sharp counters, repeatedly frustrating Navarrete’s pressure. The Orange, Texas native saved his biggest statement for the final round. With Navarrete pressing for the dramatic finish he needed, Foster dropped him twice with counter right hands. Navarrete beat both counts and reached the final bell, but the knockdowns erased any remaining doubt about the outcome. Foster improved to 26-3 with 12 knockouts, while Navarrete fell to 40-3-1.
The victory leaves Foster one major belt away from becoming undisputed champion at 130 pounds. Afterward, he made that goal clear, saying he wants to make history and needs only one more title. That gives the division an immediate storyline beyond Saturday’s result: Foster can now target the remaining WBA championship and complete the collection. After outboxing and then hurting a proven three-division champion, Foster leaves San Antonio with three belts, a career-defining victory and control of the super featherweight division.
