Carlos Adames Signs Multi-Fight Deal With Zuffa Boxing as Middleweight Roster Grows
WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames has officially joined Zuffa Boxing, signing a multi-fight promotional contract announced Tuesday. The 32-year-old Dominican enters the deal with a 25-1-1 record and 18 knockouts after defending his WBC belt three times, most recently with a dominant unanimous decision over Austin “Ammo” Williams in March. Zuffa has not yet announced Adames’ debut opponent or date.
The signing is more important than a routine promotional move because of what Zuffa is assembling at middleweight. Adames joins IBF champion Aaron McKenna and WBO titleholder Denzel Bentley under the same promotional umbrella, creating obvious paths toward major fights at 160 pounds. Adames also has unfinished mandatory business: Meiirim Nursultanov is positioned for a WBC title opportunity, meaning his first Zuffa assignment could be shaped by the sanctioning body rather than purely by promotional preference.
For Zuffa Boxing, adding Adames strengthens a division that could become one of the promotion’s early centerpieces. For Adames, the move gives him a platform to pursue the unification fights he has repeatedly called for. The next announcement matters: whether Zuffa immediately moves toward an in-house championship matchup or handles the WBC mandatory first will show how aggressively the company intends to consolidate the middleweight division.
