Top-30 Guard Jakyi Miles Commits to Arizona State, Reclassifies to 2027
Arizona State landed a major hometown recruiting win Monday when four-star guard Jakyi Miles committed to the Sun Devils and announced he will reclassify from 2028 into the 2027 class. The 6-foot-3 Compass Prep standout from Phoenix is ranked No. 19 in ESPN’s SC Next 60 for 2028 and No. 27 nationally in the Rivals Industry Ranking before his move into the older class.
Miles chose Arizona State over an offer list that included Kansas, USC, Texas, Texas Tech, NC State and Baylor. His reclassification means Randy Bennett will get the talented point guard on campus a year earlier than originally expected. Miles has established himself as one of Arizona’s premier young guards with his ability to score, create for teammates and pressure defenses off the dribble.
The commitment also strengthens an Arizona State 2027 group that already includes four-star prospects Howard Williams and Carson Crawford. Keeping Miles in Phoenix is especially significant because national programs had been recruiting him aggressively, yet the Sun Devils convinced a highly regarded local prospect to stay home. His ranking will be reevaluated now that he is moving into the 2027 class, but the larger takeaway is already clear: Arizona State has added a top-30-caliber prospect to a class that is gaining legitimate national recruiting momentum.
