Jalen Duren Out at Least Two Weeks With Right Hamstring Strain
Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren will miss at least the next two weeks after being diagnosed with a right hamstring strain, the team announced Sunday. Duren suffered the injury during Friday’s 128-111 win over Miami and will be reevaluated in two weeks, putting one of Detroit’s most important players on the sideline during an otherwise unbeaten start.
The timing is especially frustrating after Duren’s breakout 2025-26 season and a major offseason commitment from Detroit. He averaged career highs of 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds last season, shot 65 percent from the field, earned his first All-Star selection and made the All-NBA Third Team. He then signed a five-year, $200 million contract to remain a cornerstone of the Pistons. Detroit responded well without him Sunday, beating Philadelphia 106-93 to improve to 3-0 behind 26 points from Cade Cunningham and a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double from John Collins.
Duren’s absence now creates an early test of Detroit’s frontcourt depth. Paul Reed is positioned for a larger role, while Collins can absorb minutes at center in smaller lineups. The two-week mark is a reevaluation point rather than a guaranteed return date, so Detroit’s medical update after that window will determine how quickly Duren can resume basketball activity.
