Lindolfo Delgado-Arthur Biyarslanov IBF Title Fight Canceled After Travel Issues
Lindolfo Delgado’s vacant IBF junior welterweight title fight against Arthur Biyarslanov has been canceled from the October 31 Canelo Alvarez-Christian Mbilli card in Riyadh after travel issues prevented Delgado and his team from reaching Saudi Arabia. Biyarslanov had already arrived in Riyadh, but Delgado, trainer Robert Garcia and the rest of his team remained in the United States as uncertainty surrounding the matchup grew.
The cancellation removes one of the most meaningful fights from the undercard. Delgado, unbeaten at 24-0 with 16 knockouts, and Biyarslanov, 21-0 with 17 knockouts, were scheduled to fight for the vacant IBF junior welterweight championship. The title became available after Richardson Hitchins relinquished the belt, giving both undefeated contenders their first opportunity to become a major world champion.
The key question now is what the IBF does next. Biyarslanov is already in Saudi Arabia, and it remains unclear whether organizers will attempt to keep him on the card with a replacement opponent or whether the vacant-title fight will be rescheduled. The cancellation also adds another complication to a Riyadh event already being staged amid heightened regional travel and security concerns. Canelo Alvarez’s main event against Christian Mbilli remains scheduled to proceed.
