Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis Signs Seven-Fight Matchroom Extension as 154-Pound Unification Path Takes Shape

Jaron “Boots” Ennis has committed the next seven fights of his career to Matchroom Boxing, giving Eddie Hearn’s company long-term control of one of boxing’s biggest American stars as Ennis pursues the undisputed super welterweight championship. Matchroom announced the extension Tuesday, October 20. Ennis, 36-0 with 32 knockouts, currently holds the WBA and WBO titles at 154 pounds after stopping Xander Zayas in Brooklyn in June.

The timing makes the deal especially significant. IBF champion Josh Kelly also signed a new multi-fight extension with Matchroom on Tuesday. Kelly, 19-1-1, won the IBF belt from Bakhram Murtazaliev in January and successfully defended it against Caoimhin Agyarko in July. With Ennis holding two belts and Kelly holding a third, Matchroom now has a straightforward promotional path toward a three-belt unification if both sides agree to terms. WBC champion Sebastian Fundora remains the final major titleholder outside that picture.

Ennis made his goal clear in Matchroom’s announcement: undisputed at 154 pounds and eventually the top pound-for-pound position in boxing. No next opponent, date or venue was announced Tuesday, so an Ennis-Kelly fight should not yet be treated as official. But locking both champions into fresh agreements on the same day gives Matchroom considerable leverage to turn one of the division’s most logical unifications into reality in 2027.
