Teremoana Teremoana Gets Hemi Ahio Test in Nov. 18 Melbourne Heavyweight Headliner
Unbeaten Australian heavyweight Teremoana Teremoana will take a significant step up when he faces New Zealand’s Hemi Ahio on November 18 at Pullman Melbourne Albert Park. Matchroom Boxing officially announced the Trans-Tasman heavyweight headliner Wednesday, with the card set to air on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports in Australia. Teremoana enters at 12-0 with all 12 victories by knockout, while Ahio brings a 25-1 record and 19 stoppages.
The matchup is notable because Matchroom is accelerating Teremoana’s development rather than giving the 28-year-old another routine showcase. The 2024 Australian Olympian has yet to hear the final bell as a professional and most recently stopped DeAndre Savage in August. Ahio, a former WBC Middle East heavyweight titleholder, has considerably more professional experience and owns notable wins over Lucas Browne and Faiga Opelu. His lone defeat came against Opelu in 2022, a loss he later avenged.
For Teremoana, November 18 should reveal more than another knockout highlight. Ahio’s experience, physical strength and familiarity with the regional heavyweight scene make him the kind of opponent who can test whether the Australian prospect is ready to move toward world-level opposition. Matchroom has openly described Teremoana as a future world champion. Beating an established 25-fight heavyweight would give that prediction considerably more weight.
